Here's another Heinz Denckler private purchase manual - this one on the March Compass, man's best friend in war:

Der Marschkompaß und sein Gebrauch (Wehrmacht-Lehrschrift von Oberleutnant Dembowski).

30 pages with illustrations.

Thanks for the post. I remember teaching map reading / compass at the 3rd armored Division NCO Academy in the 1980 - 81 time period. The Academy was located at Kransberg Schloss in the Taunus Mountains / It was a great assignment / All the underground bunkers were open to walk through [ desks map tables etc were still sitting in place ] the blast doors, with rubber gas seals, were still operational. My office was where the German Guard commander had his office when Adolf or Herman were present. I still have 2 Luftwaffe belt buckles taken from a box of 50 we found in a corner of the boiler room.

The castle was returned to the German government during the American drawdown and now sits vacant. There was an attempt to turn it into a vacation spot by the new owners but that crashed.
