Here's my rifle. It has a BM prefix which makes it Maltby. I originally thought it might be correct (I don't know much about enfields). When I got it home and looked in my Stratton book I found out that the F on the rear sight makes that part Fazakerley. There is an "N.79" with a crown on hte upperband/bayonet lug. What does this mean? The cocking piece has an S for Savage. The number on the bolt might have been lined out. Please take a look at the bolt picture. There is a P there. Does that make it Pakistani? There is no FTR (refurb) or import marks on it which confuses me as to why it has several parts from other factories. The finish is black, almost like a paintjob...is this Brit finish? The barrel is great and the seller says it is a great shooter. Looks nice too. I think I did OK for $275 plus a bayonet, sling, and bandolier of ammo. Any other observations are welcome as I don't know much about these rifles.

you know, there's so much variety and things to know about Enfields that i tend to stay away from them unless i am 100% certain of what i'm getting.

i traded an Enfield for a 91/30 + 440 rounds of ammo because it looked like the Enfield had gone to India or Pakistan after the war and i didn't like that.

i do know that black paint was done by the English as well as Pakistan and India.
