Thought you may like to view my Niederrhein reiter ensemble. I'm still trying to track down a tie. I'm hoping a couple of friends attending the SOS will find one.

That is a great set up. Sounds like the SOS is the place to find one.

Thanks, Willi.
I can't work out why ties are so hard to find. There would have been millions worn and disgarded.

I think conditions in post war Germany are why many items are hard to find. People were not open to showing their alliance to Hitler. Shotages of everything were common. These ties were black silk, yes? Still a nice tie to be worn. Boots and pants were also of great value. So stuff just got used up. Nobody would have thought people would pay top dollar for what then was little more than junk or evidence of bad doings. One of my friends was on occupation duty in Japan in '45 and '46. He watched truck loads of swords, rifles, MGs. etc. being dumped into Tokyo Bay just to get rid of it. Mind blower.

Willi,
The tie worn with the shirt is practically the same colour brown. A darker brown tie was used with a tunic.

The half-mannequins should be easy for you to find at firms that sell shop-display fittings. The main thing to watch is that many modern mannequins are often too big to fit the smallish WW2 tunics.
One of my mannequins is "child-size" to cater for a couple of my tiny tunics.

The display looks GREAT ...and the Gorget stands right out !
I've been looking for a spare Tie for you Mike but ,no luck . I'm starting to wonder if I used it for one of my setups.
Hopefully one will show up at the SOS.

You can also find half busts at junk shops or stores going out of business as well.
