View Full Version : Converted tunic

I have been toying with the idea of making a replcia officers tunic out of a couple of replica enlisted M43s that I have, and have hit a bit of a snag. The tunics are slightly different shades so when I add the cuffs to one jacket the color will be a bit off. Would this have been an issue or normal for a converted tunic?
Thanks;

Christian,
I have seen both situations, very good material matches and others not so great.
Here's a converted waffenrock I used to own where the additions are virtually imperceptible.
Good luck with your project.

Quite often the color of the material used in the conversion did not match. Given the acute shortages in Germany throughout the period 1939 - 1945 one did the best one could within those limitations.

I have a couple of late war tunics made of non-matching fabric. I don't think it is uncommon at all.

Another thing to keep in mind ...An Officer converting an Enlisted Tunic for Combat use would not always worry about the French Cuffs from 43 to 45.
