Default WW2 Arisaka Type 99 dust cover information

Hi everyone I just recently bought an original type 99 dust cover off of eBay a couple days ago to go on my type 99 Arisaka. My gun has a serial number of #30375 on the barrel and the number #375 on the safety, firing pin, bolt, extractor, bayonet band. The serial number of the newly bought Dust cover is #377. Which I take means their were 2 rifles made before this dust cover was produced. What I want to know is if it's safe to attach this dust cover to my rifle and not half to worry about the dust cover wearing off the finish on the receiver which is in excellent condition on my rifle at the moment. If this is an issue is their any way to modify the dust cover so that it fits correctly. I haven't yet received the dust cover I bought but it should come Aug 1 if anyone needs any photos for reference of any kind.
    Thanks,

Dust covers should be interchangeable and all will rub a bit so there will be some finish loss.

Actually being 377 and 375 doesn't mean they are two away. They could be hundreds of thousands away if the series isn't correct
