Thread: Germanized VZ24 Variations

Thanks for the input. I know there isn't a ton of information or consistency to these reworks, but is there any documents or articles to read about them? I read the blurb about it in Karabiner 98k Vol 2b and it had some good info. Also, how were these reworked and issued? I'm assuming these were immediately seized after the invasion of Czechoslovakia and sent to Heer depots. However, there are quite a few pictures of SS soldiers with VZ-24s, so I'm assuming they were also able to obtain some to arm the SS-VT for the invasions of Poland and France.

There were rework, modification work orders guide lines published, but routinely they were not followed.

You can see the inconsistency in the examples posted in this thread, and yes, many Czech weapons were reissued, to German troops, with NO modifications at all.

Dave, this may be good for this thread...if not, feel free to delete...it is posted on the other forum...

    My first post here!

This is a German modified unscrubbed Romanian contract VZ-24...general consensus is the stock was replaced and renumbered by the Romanians prior to it landing in German hands, when they further modified by rebarreling, and numbering the front band, and removing wrist swivel...oh, adding the stock disc, and bluing the bolt...

    A great example.

I do wish others would post their guns since the variations are so numerous......

    Default VZ-23 rework

This one is a little different. It's a VZ-23 that was re-barreled and rebuilt into a VZ-24 by the Germans. Has a takedown disk and plugged wrist swivel.
