I don't know if it's worth 40 grand, but you definitely don't see these every day. That being said, is this item C&R? I don't think it is considering the original receiver was destroyed and was rebuilt on a new one. Otherwise, my 1967 and earlier AK parts kits guns would be "C&R", even though they were built on new receivers.

Just recently saw a type one with the barrel and chamber welded sell for more than 90k. I guess if money is no object.....

I'm on the lookout for an FG42 with sanded stock and mismatched bolt. You know, stuff like that tends to go for close to nothing, no collector value.

The seller has a great collection of weapons - lots of German WWII full auto stuff. He posts a lot on a number of forums.

He provides guns for movies. His latest was Accident Man (2018) - where his MP38 appears. I ordered the film just to see it.

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1423359 I believe he is very honest and that he knows what he has.

Well, Americans tend to get carried away (or should I say, overly excited) when they have the opportunity to "lay their hands" on fascinating German weaponry...

Not a C&R by default. Any firearm becomes one 50 yrs from date of manufacture. This one could be if ATF or a curator of a government museum that displays C&R firearms would bless it.
