    I suck at this. The band spring is correct along with no bolt takedown disc but he doesn't show too much more. What do you see?

    Upper/forward band is wrong (should not have screw hole in center), stock is not drilled for cleaning rod (IIRC, Gustloffs were drilled, even in SK form). That’s my guess.

    With the pictures provided, the huckster has done a fair job recreating the finish on the front bands. None of the late BCD rifles with fake bands ever look convincing. The phosphate that was used is quite unique.

    I did not notice the difference in finish. Honestly, that is an area I really need to study up on, late war phosphate finishes. For all makers.

    Get copies of Mike and Bruceís books that have the late war series. Study the finishes on the known good pieces pictured in good lighting. A couple dollars on information will easily pay for the losses you will avoid.

    Here is a nice one to see the unique color of the late war BCD phosphate finish. There is almost a golden iridescent sheen on the bands. Seller says stock may be a replacement. Receiver has proof but stock doesn’t appear to.
