Saturday my wife, and I, will attend the funeral of my Grand Nephew Caleb Davis. Caleb came down with the flu on the 12th of Feb. Complications set in including Pneumonia and a secondary infection, sepsis. Caleb was in a coma for 52 days and died.

Cause of death was pneumonia, influenza, septic shock and multiple organ failure.

In the end their was nothing left to do, or left to try, he was removed from life support. Caleb was 16 years old.

Dave, I don't know what to say. I can't imagine what your family is going through right now, but be strong for them as much as you can. Things like this don't make sense, and probably aren't meant to. I guess the lessons are to honor his memory, support the family and treat every day as a gift. Prayers inbound.

Thanks, guys. We are home. The funeral was so damned sad. My Nephew and his wife are suffering terrible pain.

Total cost of hospital / treatment / surgery[s ] / etc. IS now estimated at over 2 million dollars.

Insurance will not cover everything, and Curt told me there is NO way he, and his wife, can ever pay off the difference.

As unsavory as it sounds, bankruptcy may be their only way out.

For 2 people who have always met their financial obligations this is a true nightmare, but the reality of the situation is dire.

Lose their son & suffer financial ruin.......
