    I was going to rip this one, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I guess at the end of the day, you liberate the rifle you can do whatever you want. Remind me of the vet art helmets. It is what it is!

    Appears to be matching, I like it too. I'm just glad it's not a matching SSR with matching type 3 mount.

    When did they start referring to the war as WWII?
    I assume it was some time afterwards.

    I happened to read an article about the term WW2 a while ago. Time Magazine referred to World War II in 1939. Roosevelt called it the second world war after Pearl Harbour.

    This carving was definitely done after the war, but the term has been around for a while.

    Yes, I asked my Dad about this, people called it WWII as soon as it started.
