    I would say the stock has been numbered to match... never seen hardwood in 42... metal looks correct.

    There is more wrong than the renumbered stock. It has a renumbered 1940 bolt in it. For a 1942 bolt, the proof mark should be on the root, not on the curved part. Also, 1940 bolts had the suffix after the serial number and for 41 & 42 the suffix was below the serial number.
